What makes Walton’s World special?

Walton’s World is a unique pre-school curriculum available for both schools and families. It focuses on the cognitive, social, and emotional development of children, while giving them the skill sets they need to excel in a traditional learning environment. The specialized program focuses on learning through simulated travel to the seven continents of the world, where Walton the rescue dog takes children to different countries for eight weeks at a time. During these eight weeks, the children will learn pre-reading and pre-math skills along with the traditions and culture of a particular country. Children will gain invaluable learning skills, which will be the foundations for future cognitive growth and development, through games, crafts, cooking, imaginative adventure, and fun. Each game is designed to engage all learning styles as well as the importance of mastering self-regulation skills such as taking turns and co-operative play. Our curriculum follows the guidelines set out by NCTM (National Council of Teachers on Mathematics) and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children).

Where does Walton go?

Walton travels to a different continent every eight weeks. For each continent we pick an exciting country and bring it to life through videos, music, books, crafts and recipes. Once each continent is visited (56 weeks) we return to the first continent and explore a different country. With 195 countries to visit, Walton and your students will indeed be world travelers.

What tools do I need to teach the curriculum?

Our objective is to keep it simple for you by providing unique items that would not ordinarily be in your classroom or home. Conversely, some items that are inexpensive and easily available (flour, jell-o, playdough, finger paint, etc) we assumed you would prefer to provide yourself. These items are highlighted on the lesson plans under the materials section.

What do I need to buy?

The kit contains most things that are needed to teach the Walton’s World curriculum. Every eight weeks your kit will be supplemented by a country kit, which includes new lesson plans, craft items and country specific items. We offer book packs for each eight-week cycle. We have grouped the packs according to popularity and likelihood that you may already have these books in your home or classroom library. We can supply you with the books individually or in packs, or if you prefer, you can borrow them from your local library, as many titles are readily available.

How did you pick books?

A panel of early learning experts met to choose each book to address a specific learning concept included in each eight-week period. The books also reflect a range of authors, styles, diversity, illustrators, print and cultures. This supports the international nature of our business and exposes the child to a wide range of print experiences.

How is diversity supported?

By visiting the continents of the World we embrace the differences in cultures, denominations, families and in every child recognizing each as unique.

How long does it take for my kit to arrive?

Kits ship within seven days of receipt of your order. It should arrive in conformance with FedEx shipping guidelines. If you would like your kit expedited call customer service at 1-877-MY-WALTON.

When do I get my country kit?

We ship your country kits every eight weeks after the day of shipping your initial kit.

When do the countries change?

We add a new country every eight weeks. We keep each country live on the website for six months and depending on when you order, you will have access to each country for at least 16 weeks. We have built in extra weeks to allow you to get organized and familiar with the upcoming curriculum.

How do my children become citizens of Walton’s World?

The children become citizens the day you introduce them to your very first country. They will receive a country book and passport that is provided in your kit. Each week you will send home a postcard sharing insights into classroom activities for the week and directions to the website for online tips and further information about Walton’s World.
